Marie-Hélène passed away suddenly on Sunday, September 28, 2014 at the age of 49. The accident occurred on Dufferin County Side Road 10 at Mono-Amaranth Town line in the Township of Amaranth around 11:00 p.m on September 28th. A Volkswagen Jetta, driven by 26-year-old Travis Logan of Alton, ON, t-boned the Jeep Liberty driven by Marie-Hélène's husband, Steve Ratz, knocking it off the road, when Logan failed to stop at a stop sign. All three victims were pronounced dead at the scene.

Beloved wife of the late Steve Ratz. Loving mother of Derek, and Sébastien. Dear daughter of Guy Richard and Paule Eva Lucie Lessard. Marie-Hélène will be greatly missed by her brother Guy Lessard (Claudine) and her niece and nephew. MH was the owner and operator of Equus 3D Equestrian Centre and a French teacher at Centennial Hylands School.

Visitation will be held at Dods & McNair Funeral Home, 21 First Street, Orangeville on Thursday, October 2nd, 2014 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. A private family service will be held. A celebration of their lives will take place at Orangeville District Secondary School, 22 Faulkner Street, Orangeville on Saturday October 4, 2014 from 11a.m. – 2 p.m.

A tree will be planted in memory of Steve and Marie-Hélène in the Dods & McNair Memorial Forest at the Island Lake Conservation Area, Orangeville. A dedication service will be held on Sunday, September 13, 2015 at 2:30 p.m.
