W. E. Adams Dies Enroute to Florida
William E. Adams, well-known Petoskey resident for more than 50 years, died unexpectedly of a heart attack Sunday afternoon while enroute to Florida.
Death occurred while Mr. Adams was driving near Griffin, Ga., with Mrs. Adams. The body is to be returned here by rail, arriving Wednesday.
Services will be held at the Peters Funeral Home at 2 p.m. Thursday with the Rev. Ross W. Stoakes in charge.
Born January 12, 1893, in Broken Bow, Neb., Mr. Adams came to Petoskey with his family in 1896. He graduated from Petoskey high school in 1912 and was married to Miss Marjorie Merrill in 1916. After residence in Washington, D. C., they returned to Petoskey in 1921. Two children were born: Barbara, who died in 1943, and William J.
In 1923 Mr. Adams entered the employ of the Northern Auto company. The month's vacation on which he started last week marked completion of 25 years' service with that organization.
Surviving are: his wife; his mother, Mrs. Alice M. Adams, of Petoskey; the son, William J. Adams, of Petoskey; and a granddaughter, Marjorie Upton, daughter of the late Barbara Adams Upton.
Mr. Adams was an active member of Petoskey Lodge No. 629, B. P. O. E., and of the Petoskey Kiwanis Club.
