Of Leavenworth, died peacefully on Sunday, March 5, 2017, at Homestead Assisted Living.

She was born August 5, 1920 on the family farm “Allen Winden” in rural Leavenworth, the daughter of Joseph Anthony and Gertrude Joan Leahy Hartnett Zeugin.

Helen married Joseph Bristow, her husband of more than 62 years, on June 27, 1942, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church where they remained parish members. He preceded her in death in 2005.

Helen led a full and productive life. She graduated from Immaculata High School in 1938 and then continued her education in nursing and graduated from St. John Hospital. As an RN, she worked in public health for the City-County Health Department and as a school nurse. She enjoyed reading, traveling, watching most sports on TV, attending Elderhostel courses, participating in league bowling, walking in the early morning hours with her husband, and playing cards with good friends. She was a member of the Boling Canning Club and Extension Unit, Marian Mothers, and the Saint John Hospital Guild. In her later years, Helen attended St. Francis de Sales Church and always appreciated the warm reception given to her there.

Survivors include one daughter, Pat and spouse John Moulden, Leavenworth; five sons and their spouses, Dick and Carol Bristow, Shawnee, Bernie and Linda Bristow, Ed and Pam Bristow, Rob and Barbara Bristow, all of Leavenworth, and John and Rachel Bristow, Topeka; 19 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren plus one more on the way. She is also survived by her sister, Margaret Zeugin Liebeno, and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Sister Helen Bristow, SCL, parents, three sisters and three brothers.
