Ida G. Lightbody, nee Casagrande, 92, formerly of LaGrange Park, IL and Pompano Beach, FL, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday February 10, 2009 at the Devonshire-Westbury Care Center, Lisle, IL, where she was a resident. She was born December 17, 1916 in Detroit, MI to Anthony and Maria Casagrande. Her five siblings; four brothers and one sister preceded her in death. Ida was married to Lester C. Lightbody on November 9, 1946 in Somerville, MA. He passed away on February 6, 1991 in Pompano Beach, FL. They were married for forty-four years. Although Ida's primary vocation was a homemaker, she also worked as an assembler at Paper Mate in LaGrange, IL. Upon retiring in 1961, she and her husband moved to Florida and lived there for many years before returning to Illinois. Ida's hobbies were dancing, traveling, cooking, and spending time with her family. She was a wonderful and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her daughter Marilyn K. (John) Bliss of Naperville, six grandchildren: Kimberlee (Dale) Newton of Sanford, FL, Jacquelyn Lightbody of Naperville, IL, Kelly (Brad) Janssen of Sandwich, IL, Scot (Terri) Lightbody of Wheaton, James Lightbody of Wheaton, and Paul Lightbody of Lombard; four great-grandchildren: and Kaylin and Amanda Laslo and Gabriel and Lauren Lightbody. She was preceded in death by her son William L. (Lynne) Lightbody.
Visitation Saturday from 12:00 P.M. until time of service 1:00 P.M. at Williams-Kampp Funeral Home, 430 E. Roosevelt Rd., Wheaton ( 1 block east of Naperville Rd.) Private interment at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Pompano Beach, FL. In lieu of flowers, the family would like contributions be made to the American Cancer Society .
