 ANOKA, Minn. - Alvin "Danny" Danielson, 92, Bird Island, died Saturday in Homestead at Anoka.
Visitation will be from noon-1 p.m., followed by the memorial service at 1 p.m., Saturday at Bird Island United Methodist Church. Rev. Byron Perrine will officiate. Burial will be at a later date in Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis.
Military rites will be provided by Bird Island American Legion. Memorials are preferred. Arrangements by Dirks-Blem Funeral Service in Bird Island.

Obituary
Danny Danielson, age 92, of Bird Island, MN, died Saturday, March 15, 2014 at Homestead at Anoka where he has recently resided. A memorial service will be held Saturday, March 29, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. at Bird Island United Methodist Church with Rev. Byron Perrine officiating. Visitation is Saturday at the church for one hour prior to the service. Military rites will be by the Bird Island American Legion. Burial will be at later date at Fort Snelling National Cemetery. Memorials are preferred. Arrangements are with Dirks-Blem Funeral Service of Bird Island. Alvin Eugene Danielson was born November 5, 1921, at Willmar, MN, to Eric and Esther (Erickson) Danielson. He graduated from Olivia High School in 1939 and then worked as a farm laborer until 1941. He worked at National Youth Administration Camp until April, 1942, and then was a machinist at Puget Sound Navy Yard in Bremerton, WA, until August, 1942. Danny served his country during WWll in the U.S. Army. He was inducted September 11, 1942, and was stationed at Camp Crowder, MO, for Signal Corp training. He married Ruth Wiersma on December 21, 1942, at Carthage, MO. In January 1943 he was stationed in New York for Specialist Training. Danny served in the Northwest Territory from May through August, 1943, and then in the Aleutian Islands until June, 1945. He then served at an Air Base in Grand Prairie, Canada until September 1945. He was discharged at Fort Lewis, WA, on November 8, 1945. Danny and Ruth made their home in Bird Island and were the parents of three children. Danny was employed as an electrician from December,1945 until January, 1987, including for Brandt Electric the last 38 years. He was a faithful member of the Bird Island Methodist Church where he had sang in the choir for over 50 years. He was also a member of the American Legion and IBEW-Local 292 & 343. Danny had enjoyed doing carpentry and electrical projects, dancing with Ruth at the Bird Island Ballroom, and attending his children's and grandchildren's sporting and school activities. Danny is survived by his wife, Ruth Danielson; his three children: Bradley (and Debbie) Danielson of Columbus, OH, Jeffery Danielson of Anoka, and Barb (and John) Skog of Anoka; his four grandchildren: Daniel (Gretchen) Skog, Laura (Dan) DeWitt, Erik Danielson and Kyle Danielson; and his great-granddaughter Kensington Skog; his three sisters-in-law: Doris Watson, Beverly Dillon, and Katherine DeGroat; and many nieces and nephews. Danny was preceded in death by his parents, his sisters Eunice Youngberg and Doris Buettner, and several sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law. Blessed Be HisMemory
