The alternate spelling "Tigue" is due to the pronunciation by the older generation, the Scottish pronunciation, as they pronounced Teague as Tig, like fig. I know because JT's sister, Ethel McCoy Presley, my grandmother, stated it this way to me personally. The correct spelling is Teague.

For further verification of the correct spelling, please review the memorial for John Tigue "JT's" father, John Teague McCoy, Sr.

"J.T." is the nickname for John Teague McCoy, JR., is the son of John Teague McCoy Sr. and Sally (nee McCord) McCoy.

Spouse:
Clara Irene Dyer McCoy, January 21 JAN 1919 - 28 JUL 2010

Children:

JT and Irene McCoy raised their three children in Hughes, AR. Both girls were in dance and Dot was head twirler at Ole Miss in Oxford, MS during the 1960s. JT would often sew the girls' costumes.

JT spent his childhood in the family home at Cherry Creek, Pontotoc, Mississippi. One story I remember my grandmother telling me about her brother is that once when Sallie, their mother was cooking, she had a big pot of boiling water. When she turned around with the pot of water in her hands, JT was right there. The water spilled on him and burned him. Grandmother, Sarah Ethel McCoy Presley stated that she and their mother, put JT on a camp cot with a quilt around him and kept him in a bath of molasses to draw the heat out of him. I do not recall scars on his arms or face, maybe his torso was burned but I am not sure.

JT worked for the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) prior to settling in Hughes, AR.

After moving to Hughes, JT owned a restaurant and Irene was the Cafeteria Manager at Hughes ISD. If you ever ate at Uncle JT's restaurant, I hope you remember his fried chicken! It was the best.
