Daughter of Hilarion Reyes and Maria Trinidad ZapataLydia Cervantes passed away in her home at the age of 90. She was born to Elideo and Trinidad Zapata Reyes. She met Baltazar Cervantes and they married in El Paso, TX of August 1946. Lydia worked as a nanny for the Green family in Columbus, NM in the early 1940s. When World War II started, she went to work for the Southern Pacific Railroad as a laborer because of the shortage of men in the workforce at that time. She retired from the SPRR to become a full-time homemaker and travel with her husband. Baltazar, while he worked for the SPRR in Utah and New Mexico before making their home in Elko in 1958. Lydia was a very devoted member of the St. Joseph's Catholic Church. She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Baltazar; daughter, Carmen (Amelio) Lara; granddaughters, Norma Golden, Nannette (Ryan) Ispisua, Sofia (Alberto) Perez, Kaiden Cervantes; great-granddaughters, Kara Golden, Jazmin Perez, Skyler Lydia Ispisua, Peyton Ispisua, Kylie Bailey; and great-great granddaughter, Nakiya Golden. Her sister, Savina Valtierra of Elko; brother, Manuel Reyes of Columbus, NM and many nieces and nephews also survive Lydia. Lydia was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Amador, Pedro and Ignacio Reyes; and sister, Simone Herr.
