Bruce D. Fishburn, 55, of 432 Oakland Ave., Ashland, passed away Friday morning after fighting a heroic battle with cancer. Born in Ashland, April 30, 1953, he was the son of the late Harry and Esther Troup Fishburn. He was a 1971 graduate of North Schuylkill High School and was employed as a coal miner for the Kocher Coal Co., Tower City, later for Dana Corp. and retiring from Donton Contracting, where we he was employed as a carpenter. He was of the Protestant faith and enjoyed fishing, hunting and collecting model trains. Surviving are his wife, Joanne Callahan Fishburn; four daughters, April Fishburn, Philadelphia, Jennifer Fishburn, Ashland, Danielle, wife of Eric Locke, Gordon, and Michaline, wife of Jason Blase, Sinking Springs; three brothers, Leonard Fishburn, husband of Lucy, Mount Carmel, Harry Fishburn, husband of Emma, Mount Carmel, and Steve Fishburn, Ashland; four sisters, Rose Ann, wife of Walter Yablonsky, Ashland, Christine, wife of Edward Oravitz, Frackville, Theresa, wife of Donald Oakley, Ashland, and Tonia, wife of Jerry Vinansky, Frackville; a father- and mother-in-law, Francis and Mildred Callahan, Mount Carmel; grandchildren Gavin, Kassandra, Ashton, Amelia, Karissa and Deacon; and nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday from Richard W. Fritz Funeral Home, Ashland. The Rev. Robert Smith, pastor of Seventh Street Primitive Methodist Church, Shamokin, will officiate. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. Wednesday until the service at the funeral home. Interment will be in Citizen's Cemetery, Lavelle. Richard W. Fritz Funeral Home, Ashland, is in charge of arrangements.
