Evalena Pottorff Adams was born Oct. 4, 1903, near Hatfield, MO. She was the eighth child of George and Hettie (Austin) Pottorff.
Evalena, who was known by her dear friends as Eva, was raised in the Hatfield area where she attended the Long Branch school through the eighth grade.
On March 4, 1922, Evalena and Luther David Adams were married in Grant City, MO. They lived in the Hatfield area until retiring into Mt. Ayr in 1971. Eva lived in her own home until March of 2001 when she became a resident of Clearview Home. She passed away on Sept. 16,2001 at the Ringgold County Hospital in Mt. Ayr.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Luther, in 1981; 1 grandchild and 1 great-great-grandchild in infancy; son-in-law Albert Kemerling; 6 brothers, Jessie at age four, Elijah, Dee, Donnie,Glen, and Walter; 5 sisters, Bessie Gibson, Elina Buckmaster, Betty Renner, Nancy Cook, Elsie Tull, and Grace Ruckman.
Evalena is survived by her children, Bonnie Whited and husband, Don ofTarkio, MO., Beulah Kemerling of Fairfax, MO., Calvin Adams and wife Roena and Melvin Adams and wife Kathryn, all of Mt. Ayr; 9 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, and 16 great-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
