Ben Asner owned Caper's Corners record store in the Kansas City area. Also owned Asner Block and Building Material at one time. Mr. Asner was the victim of two armed robberies in 1974. One at his store, a second one at his home. He was shot twice in the second one. He was a member of the Congregation Ohev Sholom, and B'nai B'rith. He was a lifelong area resident. One of 5 children of Morris and Elizabeth Asner, along with Esther, Labe, Eva, and actor Ed Asner, 7 time Emmy Award winner.

The obituary for Mr. Asner was published in the March 4, 1986 edition of the Kansas City (MO) Star and the March 5 edition of the Kansas City Times.
