Everett D. Reed served as a pilot in Europe during World War II. He flew planes that dropped paratroopers during the days surrounding the D-Day invasion. He married Faith Velma Hunt on January 23, 1946. After the war, he flew for Flying Tigers. On a routine flight from Chicago to Los Angeles, contact was lost with his plane, and it was discovered that the plane had crashed near California Peak in Colorado. An investigation concluded that aircraft failure, not pilot error, was the cause of the crash. A memorial to the three men killed in the crash stands at the site of the wreckage. Are you related?
