Mrs. Battersby was a sweet, friendly, lovely lady who I used to stop to talk to every morning on my way to the bus stop.

She formerly lived on the 600 block of Hunter Street in Gloucester City, NJ and had a little wolf-sable Pomeranian named Corky, a wonderful dog who had his own fan club.



BATTERSBY, EMMA MARY

(nee Fryer), age 89, passed away January 15, 2007, at the home of her daughter Dolores and Bud Holt in Clarks Summit, PA. Emma, who was a former longtime resident of Gloucester City, NJ was born in Penns Grove and was the daughter of Howard and Emma Pine Fryer. She was the beloved wife of Joseph A. Battersby, who preceded her in death in 1988. She attended the Gloucester City Public Schools as a child and retired at the age of 80, from Underwood Memorial Hospital where she worked as a Dietary Aide.

She will be lovingly remembered by her daughter Dolores Holt and her husband Bud of Clarks Summit, PA, and sons, Joseph Battersby and his wife Ruth of Gloucester City, John Battersby and his wife Judy of Runnemede, and Jimmy Battersby and his wife Tish of Gloucester City. She was the devoted grandmother of Debbie, John, Tammy, Wendy, Kelly, Joey, Jimmy, Judy, Jennifer, Jackie, Jeanette, Jimmy, John and was preceded in death by her grandson Tim Battersby. She was the loving great grandmother of Jessica, Olivia, Andrew, Katie, Sam, Joey, Kaylee, Jessica, Jacob, Emma, Amber, Tyler, and Olivia. Emma was the dear sister in law of Peg Tiddy and was also survived by many loving nieces, nephews and her beloved dog, Corky.

Relatives and friends are invited to meet Saturday morning from 10:00am to 12:00 noon at the ETHERINGTON-CRERAN FUNERAL HOME , 700 Powell St., Gloucester City. Funeral Services will be held at 12:00 noon with interment to follow at Bethel Cemetery, Hurffville. There will be no evening viewing.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorial donations be made to the St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1942
