Major League Baseball Player. Outfielder for the St. Louis Cardinals and Philadelphia Blue Jays/Phillies during the war years of the 1940s. He played briefly with the Cardinals in 1939 and 1943 before being traded to Philadelphia on June 1, 1943. In 1944 he was a regular in the Philadelphia outfield and hit .283 with 17 home runs. He began the 1945 season with Philadelphia but after hitting just .232 with 2 home runs he was traded back to St. Louis on May 8. As a regular with the Cardinals in 1945 he hit .292 with 20 home runs. He was a reserve outfielder with the 1946 Cardinals and finished his career in 1947 as a Philadelphia Phillie. His lifetime batting average was .266 and he hit a total of 50 home runs.
