Civil War: Company E, 13th Michigan Infantry

Cebourn Ensign Alvord married (1) Lydia Ann Jones in 1863. During the Civil War he enlisted as a private for 3 years at Jackson, Michigan, on February 29, 1864, and was mustered into Company E, 13th Michigan Infantry, that same day. Private Alvord was mustered out at Detroit, Michigan, May 25, 1865. He filed for a Civil War veteran disability pension on January 26, 1869, and received certificate No. 97,885.

He married (2) Mary Jane White in 1892. Soon after his death Mary filed for a widow's pension on September 27, 1920, and received certificate No. 896,734. When Lydia found out, she filed a contesting widow's claim on November 28, 1923, and received application No. 1,212,678; a certificate number was not found.
