From Contributor One Moment at a Time:
Mary was Dad's very first teacher. She lived in the white house in the Mormon Creek area that is very close to the highway, peeling paint and, last I saw, sheets of tin over the windows. She grew up in that house and drove her horse and buggy to teach at Tuttletown School. She may have been an orphan because she was raised by Manuel and Mary Jacobs. She was born January 27, 1888, and passed away October 14, 1965. My parents visited her every evening at the hospital until her death. I remember them saying that she was able to sit up in bed and converse with them until her last night when she had difficulty speaking.
