Susan was born in Oakland, California, to Georgia Ethel M Harris and Marcus Rothwell Tate. She passed away in Sonora at the age of 69.

Wanda Juanita Tate-Ryan-Arguello changed her name to Susan when she became of legal age. She then went by the name of Sue and preferred going by the name of Sue Arguello.

She married Morris Richard Ryan on August 16, 1935, but the marriage didn't last long. On February 12, 1948, she married into the Ghiarso family in Sacramento. She married Alcario J Arguello on June 24, 1961, but they divorced several years later. While she preferred going by Sue Arguello, she was buried in the Ryan family plot.

A 54 year resident of Tuolumne County, Susan's career was working as a cook for the Tuolumne County jail, Columbia College and local restaurants. She was a member of the Teamsters' Union, Local 49.

In the late 1960s, she owned a tavern in Jamestown.

Susan left behind a son, John Ryan, five grandchildren and a great-grandchild and two sisters.
