Anna was born Anna Aronsson. She is the mother of Ann-Margret Olsson (born April 28, 1941 in Stockholm, Sweden) an American actress, singer and dancer whose professional name is Ann-Margret.

Anna's husband, Gustav Olsson, a native of Örnsköldsvik, is buried next to her.

While young, Ann-Margret moved with her parents to Valsjöbyn, Jämtlands län, which she later described as a small town "of lumberjacks and farmers high up near the Arctic Circle".

Anna Regina (Aronsson) Olsson was born on February 5, 1919 in Valsjöbyn, Hotagen, in the country of Sweden. She had two younger brothers, one named Calle. In Volasjobyn, Anna met Gustav Olsson, 18 years her senior. After a short courtship, Gustav proposed to Anna's on her 20th birthday, and the next winter they were married in a simple family ceremony in Hotagen's white church. Within a few months, Anna was pregnant with what would be their only child, Ann-Margret Olsson, born April 28, 1941. To find employment, Gustav soon traveled to America where he found work at the Johnson Electric Company in Chicago, leaving Anna and little Ann-Margret in Sweden for 5 years. Eventually, they too traveled to America, crossing the Atlantic on November 29, 1946, aboard the Swedish steam ship - The Gripsholm. They settled in Fox Lake, Illinois, where Ann-Margret was enrolled in dance lessons, leading to her love of dance, singing & theatre while attending New Trier High in Willemette, Illinois. After one year at Northwestern University, Ann-Margret left college as her career took off, leading to films, television, stage and nightclubs. At one time, she was the highest paid female performer in Las Vegas. Anna's husband Gustav passed away from cancer on February 7, 1973. Anna and her daughter were best of friends and often traveled together with Ann-Margret's husband, actor Roger Smith ("77 Sunset Strip"), whom she married on May 8, 1967. Anna herself succumbed to cancer on June 5, 2001 at the age of 82, and is buried next to her husband Gustav in the Courts of Remembrance Garden, Lot 9497, Space 1 at Forest Lawn Memorial Park - Hollywood Hills.

Roger Smith, her son-in-law, and husband of Ann-Margret, passed on June 4, 2017
