Taken from her obituary: On Wednesday, March 22, 2017, Dorothy Josephine Lear departed this earth peacefully while praying and went on to Glory. Dorothy was the eldest of four children born to the union of Norman Watson and Eloise Watson of Kingston, Jamaica, who migrated to Los Angeles. She was born at California Hospital on April 19, 1925. Growing up she attended 28th Street School, John Adams JR. High and graduated in the summer class of 1943 from Polytechnical High School-at which time she had a love for piano and worked as a "Candy Striper".

On September 30, 1945, she married Davis Lear to whom this covenant relationship lasted 65 years and they were blessed with 6 beautiful children who gave them 16 grandchildren. She was affectionately recognized and known in Transfiguration Catholic Church and at St. Anselms Catholic Church as the "Hot Dog Lady" or the "Homeroom Mom". She was strong, passionate and loved by all.

Dorothy had many jobs that included mostly raising children, babysitting and dressmaking. She ran a group home in which she cared for 183 medically fragile/handicapped children for over 30 years. She had to retire due to her health, but loved caring for her husband, children and grandchildren. Dorothy was full personality, kind-spirited and a fun loving angel who helped everyone in need. She gave her family all the best memories of parties, camping, cooking, and decorating her whole house every- I mean every- holiday inside and out. She could take a potato and make 5 pounds of potato salad, take a piece of material and make a whole wardrobe and we all know she was a master prankster. Dorothy never drank, smoked or cursed; the dirty word she would say was "chicken poo-poo". She created a legacy that has been instilled in all of her children and everyone she came in contact with.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parent's, Norman Watson and Eloise Watson, her husband Davis Lear Sr., of Shreveport, LA; her brother Norman Watson Jr., and sister in law, Georgette Watson.

Those left to cherish her precious memories are her loving children: Davis Jr., Harold, Adrienne, Michael, Brian, Alan and adopted son Scottie. Sister's: Sylvia Watson and Suzan Katz and Isabelle Zimmerman. Grandchildren: Christopher, Vienna, Dominique, Kristen, Kahlia, Jaemie (Jamie), Meagan, Victoria, Alan Jr., Julian, Jared, Savanah, Michael Jr., Davis III, Sean, and Lauren. Sister in law, Beulah Humber and brother in law, Alvin Katz; 5 beautiful daughter in laws; Patty, Jennifer, Perette, Michelle and Glenda. She will be greatly missed by her many cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and a host of friends.

For a job well done, she gets to fly with the Angels. She will reign as a queen in our hearts forever. There will never be another Dorothy-ever!!! By the way.... LAST TAG!!! You're It!!!
