Benjamin was the son of Meyer Schwartz and Fannie Bernstein of Russia. He immigrated to Philadelphia about 1900. He was married and lived at 815 West Street in Wilmington. His profession was real estate and investments. Meyer and Sarah were the parents of the following known children:

1-Meyer Schwartz (1900 Phila PA-1956 Wilm DE)
2-William W. Schwartz (1902 Wilm DE-1951 Wilm DE)
3-Mollie Schwartz (abt 1903 DE)
4-Goldie Schwatz (abt 1905 DE)
5-Doris Schwartz (abt 1908 DE)

[The informant on his death certificate was Meyer Schwartz of 519 West Street.]

Note~Over a year and half after creating memorials for the Schwartz family in Lombardy Cemetery where they were originally buried, someone has been making duplicates and placing them in the newer Jewish Community Center Cemetery without even checking for existing memorials with the exact same names and dates. According to the International Jewish Cemetery Project, the Jewish Community Cemetery includes "a former part of Lombardy Cemetery". They are both at the same location.
