Lin Marie Anderson of Plainville, CT passed away on May 30, 2014, after a courageous battle with breast cancer. Born in Hopewell Junction, NY on March 6, 1958, Lin attended area elementary and middle schools, and graduated from John Jay High School. Following graduation, she moved to CT and began a 30 year career within the YMCA system as Aquatic Director, Program Director and finally as Membership Coordinator. However, the position that allowed Lin to make a significant and lasting impact on hundreds of children and their families was that of Head Swim Coach at both the Plainville and Northern Middlesex YMCAs. The unique and fun team spirit Lin created within these programs has been long remembered by her former swimmers. Committed to a life of physical fitness, Lin worked out, played competitive softball, and participated in many iron-man type of events. She also volunteered and ran in the "Race for the Cure." Country music, cheering on her favorite sports teams and traveling with friends rounded out a full and happy life. Lin is survived by her loving friend and partner of 28 years, Marilou Asher, as well as her mother, Elaine Anderson of Branford, CT; her brothers Michael Anderson and wife Patty, NY, Richard Anderson and wife, Josephine, NY, Brian Anderson and wife, Dawn, CO; as well as her sister, Karen Anderson and her partner, Tracy Knofla, CT. She shared a deep love and affection for her nieces and nephews: Robby, Kelly, Gregory, Stephanie, Tiffany, Samantha and Katie; as well as her many aunts, uncles and cousins in NY. Lin was predeceased by her father, Robert Anderson. A special thanks is given to all who shared their kindness with Lin during her illness. Your efforts made a great difference to her. A mass celebrating Lin's life will be held at Our Lady of Mercy Church in Plainville, CT on Friday, June 6, at 11am. The family will receive visitors prior to mass at 10am in the Church hall. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society , the Northern Middlesex YMCA, or to www.gofundme.com
