TOOELE — A Tooele man was killed and five others were injured in a head-on crash Friday at 7:30 p.m. about one mile southeast of U.S. 40-50 on Utah 112 — the cutoff road between here and Grantsville in Tooele County.

Dead on arrival at Tooele Valley Hospital was Larry Edwin Ainsworth, 24.

Deputy Sheriff William Pitt said a westbound car driven by Mr. Ainsworth collided with an eastbound vehicle operated by William Sager, 45, Ely, Nev.

Two passengers in the Ainsworth auto, J. D. Cowdell, 25, and D. W. Crossley, 32, both of Tooele, were rushed to Tooele Valley Hospital and were listed in critical condition.

Mr. Sager's two children, Brent, 13, and Melodie, 8, were described in serious condition with head injuries and Mr. Sager was in good condition with minor cuts.
