Son of Abigail Park and Peter Adams of Hampshire County, Massachusetts.

William married (1) Sarah Giles Bryant 18 September 1834 at Shaftsbury, Bennington, Vermont. They had three daughters: Frances Claudine Carmelia Adams [Winton, Sagers & Barker], Mary Eliza Adams [Shurtliff] and Sarah Melvina Adams [McGary or McGeary & Williams]. His first wife died in 1844 in Massachusetts.

He married (2) Martha Ann Utley 23 November 1849, (it is believed at Harris Grove, Pottawatomie, Iowa.) They had one daughter, Martha Ann E. Adams September 1850. His second wife and this 22 month old daughter died en-route to the Salt Lake Valley in July of 1852.

He married (3) Mary Angeline Tuttle 5 January 1853 at Tooele, Tooele, Utah. They had 4 Daughters and three sons: Ann Eliza Adams 1853-1854; Vilate Angeline Adams 1855-1855; Luvena Abigail Adams [Bates]; William Edward Adams 1858-1858; and Henry Norton Adams 1859-1860.

After William's death in January 1861, his widow married Andreas "Andrew" Christopher Hinck and had two more children. After divorcing Hinck, she was buried as ADAMS.
