Harold Leon Ray Sr.

BURLINGTON - Mr. Harold Leon Ray Sr., age 87, of 3878 Euliss Road, died Thursday, August 25, 2011 at his home after several months of failing health.
Born in Floyd County, Ga., he was the son of the late Berry Jackson Ray and the late Pearl Callaway Ray and was married for over 65 years to Mrs. Marion Mabe Ray, who survives.
Mr. Ray was a U.S. Army Veteran and served in World War II. He retired from Fredrickson Motor Line and then later worked for 12 years with Battleground Tire and Wrecker Service.
Mr. Ray is survived by his wife, of the home; four daughters, Jane Webster of Burlington, Wanda Holton and her husband, George, of Greensboro, Ellen Vines and her husband, Tony, of Burlington and Joy Pedraza and her husband, Alex, of Graham; two sons, Harold Ray Jr. and his wife, Darlene, and Carl Lee Ray and his wife, Tracy, all of Burlington; nine grandchildren, Dana Convoy, Sara Webster, David Self, Susie Barbour, James Vines, Jeremy Vines, Gerardo Velasquez, Jose Velasquez and Cody Struck; 10 great- grandchildren, and two sisters, Nellie Newberry of Sugar Valley, Ga. and Jewel Pyle of Rome, Ga.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Linda Lou Ray; two granddaughters, Diane Young and Rosa Velasquez; great-grandson, D.J. DeLimont; a sister, Minnie Lee Knight; and two brothers, Willard Ray and Donald Ray.
The funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday, Aug. 29, 2011 at Nall Memorial Baptist Church by the Rev. Wade Cox. Interment will follow at Alamance Memorial Park.
