Sarah Mildred Ratliff Ellerbe, 89, of Youngstown passed away Sunday, June 1, 2008 at 2:20 p.m. at St. Elizabeth Medical Center of natural causes.
Mrs. Ellerbe was born August 6, 1918, in Bennettsville, South Carolina, the daughter of John and Ida Huggins Ratliff, and came to this area in 1925. She was a homemaker. She attended The Rayen School and was a very active member of the Centenary United Methodist Church, where she was a soloist. Mrs. Ellerbe belonged to several school, community and senior citizens organizations and enjoyed shopping, gardening, singing and her family.
She married Brolie Ellerbe on April 15, 1937, who passed away on November 29, 1986.
She leaves to mourn two sons, William Jerry (Joan) Ellerbe of Dover, Del. And Walter Glenn (Teri) Ellerbe of Cincinnati; a daughter, Mildred Joan Glover of Cleveland; eight grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren; a daughter-in-law, Wanda Wayne Ellerbe of Wichita, KS; two sisters-in-law, Lessie Ratliff and Edna Ratliff both of Youngstown; a special nephew, Ronald Ellerbe of Youngstown and a host of relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by a son, Brolie Frederick Ellerbe and two brothers, John K. "Boots" Ratliff and Elliot "Ted" Ratliff.
