GRAND SALINE - Services for Gordon Farrow Adamson, 79, Grand Saline, are scheduled for 2 p.m. Tuesday at First United Methodist Church of Grand Saline with the Rev. Dan Gilliam officiating.

Burial will be in Woodside Cemetery under direction of Bartley Funeral Home, Grand Saline.

Mr. Adamson died March 31, 2007, in a Grand Saline hospital.

He was born March 28, 1928, in Elsa to the late Mr. and Mrs. C.D. Adamson. He grew up in Dallas and served in the Army Air Corps during World War II. He attended University of Texas, Texas A&M University and Southern Methodist University, and received his bachelor's and master's degrees. He worked for DuPont Chemical in Orange and at Olin Mathis Chemical Co. in Saltville, Va., prior to becoming plant chemist with Morton Salt Co. in Grand Saline, where he remained as plant chemist and quality control manager until retirement in 1991. He was a member of First United Methodist Church of Grand Saline where he taught Sunday school, sang in the choir and served on boards and committees. He was a longtime member of Lions Club, and a founding board member and officer of Salt Employees Credit Union. He also served as a member and president for several terms of Grand Saline ISD School Board, and was county campaign manager for the Texas Senate campaign of George H.W. Bush. Since retirement he was a volunteer at Grand Saline Public Library and tax return preparer for American Association of Retired Persons. He was preceded in death by his parents-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. L.M. Cox Sr., and brother-in-law, L.M. Cox Jr.

Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Betty Cox Adamson, Grand Saline; daughter, Jan Adamson, Grand Saline; son, Grand Adamson, Austin; sister, Martha Hoffman, Austin; one grandson; and other relatives.

Family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

If desired, memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church of Grand Saline; Grand Saline Public Library; or Southern Methodist University.
