In the early 2000s, Jack's son, Billy, contributed his DNA for use in the Blanton surname DNA project. Billy's DNA helped prove that his paternal grandparents, who shared a common surname and both of whom were born in Rutherford County, NC, were not related. Jack's paternal grandparents were Benjamin Franklin "Frank" Blanton and Julia Ann Blanton Blanton, who are buried in the Bethel Cemetery, Grayson County, Texas. (Julia was the daughter of Stephen F. Blanton; Frank was the son of Benjamin Edward Blanton)

Regular funeral services and also deaf mute interpreter services were conducted for the Blantons who were both deaf mutes. They were active in helping young under privileged deaf mutes to learn sign language and also assisted with the deaf mute church choir.
Mr. Blanton was a long-time resident of Vernon before moving to Euless. Mrs. Blanton was the former Lela Dicknell of Oklahoma City.
