Glady Mae Elmore, 90, the oldest resident of the Jimtown community at the time of her death, passed away at 1:15 a.m. Friday, March 15, 2002, in Ruby Memorial Hospital, where she had been a patient since March 9. She had been in failing health; however, her death was unexpected. Born Nov. 30, 1911 at Adolph, she was the daughter of the late Harmon and Birdie Lloyd Cutright. She was twice married. In 1927, she married Bill Rutherford, who preceded her in death in 1930. On Feb. 13, 1933, she was united in marriage to Fred W. Elmore, who preceded her in death in 1986. She is survived by five daughters, Willa Mae "Shorty" Bibey, Belington, Mrs. Howard (Rosalie) Miller, Mabie, Mrs. Roy Alfred (Katie) Howes, Philippi, Jeannie Merritt, Beverly, and Mrs. Tom (Joy) Bender, Kingsville Road, Coalton; two stepdaughters, Lorraine Wolfe and Loretta Philipps, both of Jimtown; two stepsons, Bill Elmore and wife, Esma, LaGrange, Ga., and John Elmore and wife, Elsie, Jimtown; one sister, Rose Fox, Elkins; three half sisters, Vera Hanifan, Barbertown, Ohio, Mrs. Harold (Barbara) Tawney, Wadsworth, Ohio, and Dortha (Dot) Thomason, Mabie; one half brother, Edward Cutright, Belington; 40 grandchildren, 69 great-grandchildren, 24 great-great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Also preceding her in death was a daughter, Shirley Bodkin; three sons, Robert Lee, Bobby and Ray Elmore; a sister, Florence Pingley; four brothers, Ernest, Stanley, Basil and Bunker Cutright; two grandsons, two step-grandchildren, and also her stepmother, Ruth Cutright. Mrs. Elmore was employed by Tom Eidell and his late wife, Caroline, for 11 years. She was a member of the Phillips Chapel United Methodist Church at Jimtown, where she served as Sunday School superintendent for 40 years. She was also an adult Sunday School teacher for several years. Friends were received at the F.E. Runner Funeral Home Chapel Sunday after 5 p.m. On Monday, Mrs. Elmore was moved to the Phillips Chapel United Methodist Church for visitation from noon until 2 p.m., the funeral hour. The Rev. Leon Hevener, pastor of the church, officiated and interment followed in the Phillips Cemetery. The F.E. Runner Funeral Home was is in charge of the arrangements for Gladys Mae Elmore.
