John Hlebcar passed away at home on July 19, 2006, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born on April 13, 1934, in Lorain, Ohio.
He entered the United States Air Force after graduation from high school in 1952. After four years of active military service, he served in the Air Force reserves for many years. He worked for 30 years for NAVELEX on Mare Island, retiring in 1991. He was a model airplane enthusiast and a member of the Society of Antique Modelers (SAM 27).
