Right side of S E Black. This is the resting place of one William Wheaton Black, born May 25, 1829, in Hempstead County, AR, son James Harvey Black and Nancy Barnett Wheaton of AR. He died in Comaltown (New Braunfels) on June 1, 1903. He was briefly a Texas Ranger, CSA Soldier, Wilson Co. Sheriff and in the State Police - the last two during Reconstruction, not a popular occupation. (Info from Tommie J Clayton)

He married Mary A. HENSON 1854 in Robertson County,TX. She died AFT 1865 in TX. He married Susan Elizabeth TALLEY 1866 in Wilson County, Texas
