Country Singer, Actor. Country Music Hall of Fame Member. He was born Cyrus Whitfield Bond in Enville, Oklahoma in 1915. While playing in Oklahoma in the band "The Bell Boys" with Jimmy Wakely, they were discovered by Gene Autry. In California, they became known as the Jimmy Wakely Trio. He began a recording and movie career, appearing in over 30 films, and writing over 100 songs, including the classic "Cimarron." Later in life he wrote biographies on Gene Autry and Tex Ritter. Bond died of a stroke in 1978 in Burbank, California. In 1999, he was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame.
