Motion Picture Director, Actor. He is best known for writing and directing the classic cult horror film "Witchfinder General" (1968) starring Vincent Price and Ian Ogilvy. His other work included, 'The Long Ships' (1963),'Castle of the Living Dead' (1964),'Revenge of the Blood Beast'(1966) and 'The Sorcerers' (1967). Shortly before his death in 1969 he was chosen to direct 'The Oblong Box', he became severely depressed and reclusive during the pre production, causing concern to those around him. He passed away of an accidental barbiturate overdose at his home.
