DARBY – John M. Sutherland, 63, of Darby and Marblehead, Ohio, passed away Friday, Dec. 27, 2013, of accidental cause. He was born Jan. 13, 1950, in New London, Ohio, to Dorothy and Ira Sutherland.

John was raised in New London and was a 1968 graduate of New London High School. He went to farrier school and learned to shoe horses. He worked construction for a good many years before he retired to a life of making fishing poles and shotgun shells.

He spent his time in Montana breathing in the fresh mountain air and feeding the mule deer, and Ohio where he loved his cottage and fishing on Lake Erie. He was a man of few words and showed his softer side with his grandkids.

John is survived by his wife Tina of Darby and New London; two children, Thom Nickoli (Tracy LaMar-Nickoli) of Hilliard, Ohio, and Amanda Sutherland Goodwin (Jon Goodwin) of Missoula; sisters Sandy Sutherland Burner (Dave Burner) of Darby and Gayle Sutherland Ashbaker of New London; as well as three granddaughters, three grandsons and his beloved yellow Labrador, Sadie.

Memorial plans will follow at a later date. The family suggests that memorials be made to the Darby Breadbox, 205 E. Tanner Ave., Darby MT 59829.
