Mr. Roger J. Chambers, age 83 of Blue Ridge, passed away Thursday, March 14, 2013 at his home after a long illness. Mr. Chambers was born November 21, 1929 in Blairsville, GA to the late Calvin and Myrtle Jordan Chambers.

A member of the Shirley Hills Baptist Church in Warner Robbins, GA, he was preceded in death by brothers Ray and Jay Chambers of Morganton, Cecil Chambers of Lawrenceville, GA and Jerry Chambers of Eatonton, GA, and sisters Marie Barnette of Jesup, GA and Audrey Sheffield of Tampa, Fl, also an infant sister.

Roger enjoyed fishing in his spare time and he worked for 36 years in civil service for the federal government and the defense department.

Survivors include his loving wife of 58 years Frances Bass Chambers; son Greg (Tina) Chambers of Jasper, GA; daughter Cathy Roderick of Dahlonega, GA; brother Earl Chambers of Morganton; sisters Retha Overstreet of Blairsville, and Ella Gerean of Pensacola, Fl.; brother Winston Chambers of Blairsville; grandchildren Clint Chambers, Lexi Chambers, of Jasper, Eric Roderick, Paige Mitcham, of Dahlonega; great grandchildren, Dane Roderick, Brock Roderick, Chloe Roderick, Alison Mitcham, and Landan Mitcham all of Dahlonega. Numerous nieces and nephews and a host of friends also survive.

Funeral services were held at the Henry-Cochran Funeral Home with the Rev. Roger Beck officiating. Music provided by Robert Bass, Leroy Fox and Peggy Chambers. Interment followed in the Chastain Memorial Park. Pallbearers include Richard Chambers, Eric Roderick, Greg Chambers, Josh Mitcham, Jeff Dunlap and Leroy Fox.
