Mosely, born May 23, 1901 in Hempstead, TX, was the youngest of 16 children born to John Mosely Behn and 12 children born to the union of John Mosely Behn, Sr and Nancy Hanks Bramlett Behn. He never had the honor of knowing his father, who passed away a little more than a month prior to Mosely's birth. Mosley was affectionately nicknamed and referred to as "Babe" by his mother and older siblings.

Mosely died Sunday, July 20, 1969 in a local hospital. A native of Hempstead, Texas, he had lived in Fresno 14 years.

Surviving are his widow, Juanita of Fresno, CA; a son, Mosely, Jr. (Mel) of Los Angeles, CA; five daughters, Mrs. Faye Hill, Mrs. Rosetta Bills, Mrs. Arneta Mack, Mrs. Ethel (Clifford) Henderson, all of Fresno, and Mrs. Jennie (Johnnie) Wesley of Los Angeles, CA; four brothers, George of Bakersfield, CA, John of Odessa, TX, Dr. G.E. Behn of Chicago, IL, and Leroy of Tulsa, OK; two sisters, Mrs. Addie M. Miller of Dallas, TX, and Mrs. Julia Barbara Reid of San Francisco, CA; 40 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Preceding him in death are seven brothers: Arthur, Henry James, J.N., Prince Albert, Charlie, Thomas W. and Samuel; and two sisters: Mattie Behn Jones and Alverda Behn Watkins.
