Born in Williamsport, Pennsylvania, he was the son of the late Carl & Shirley Peck Bowen. A 1966 graduate of Williamsport High School, he was the owner and operator of the Clinton Plaza Sears store in Lock Haven. Prior to purchasing Sears, he was employed by Wolf Furniture in Bellefonte, PA and for many years by Coca-Cola Inc. He was a member of the Mackeyville United Methodist Church where he helped revitalize the youth group program. He enjoyed camping, hiking in the great outdoors, football, (especially his beloved Buffalo Bills) practical jokes and spending time with his Grandson, Billy. He married his longtime girlfriend, Patricia Edwards in 2000.
We once attended a Steeler's vs. Bills Monday night game together in Pittsburgh and he took great pride in his collection of Buffalo Bills gear and took the 24-0 shutout of his team with his usual jovial attitude. Only when we returned two days later did I discover that he had neglected to let his girlfriend or anyone else know where he was going. He was a kind person who was easy to like. He suffered a heart attack while driving back to his business and died at the Lock Haven Hospital after extensive efforts to revive him were unsuccessful. Sadly missed by all who had the pleasure to have met him.
