Edward T. Garcia, 73, a retired veteran, died Wednesday, Dec. 18, 2013, in Bridgeport.

He was also a member of the Assumption Catholic Church in Bridgeport.

Edward was born Nov. 9, 1940, in New York City to Thomas and Laura (Tubens) Garcia. He married Marisa Emerson April 21, 1982, in El Paso.

Edward proudly served his country in the United States Army. He was a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association, the American Hunting Association and the American Veterans Association.

He is survived by his wife, Marisa Garcia of Bridgeport; sisters Gloria Lancaster of Florida, Hilda Cobo of North Carolina and Frances Lazaration of Florida; brother Thomas Garcia and wife, Pat, of Sunset; nephew Thomas E. Garcia of California; sisters-in-law Leala Davis and husband, Tom, of Yuma, Ariz., and Rachael Gasperson and husband, Bob, of Bridgeport; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Garcia was preceded in death by his parents.
