Mary Aleta Hopkins, 92, of Ennis passed away at the Ennis Regional Medical Center, Sept. 20, 2008.

Mary was born Feb. 13, 1916 to parents George Wolford and Clemma (Gillespie) Wolford in Gauley Mills, W.V.. She was reared in Gauley Mills and attended schools there. On July 4, 1941 she married Arval W. Hopkins in Bergoo, W.V. After World War II, they made their home in San Antonio, Texas. In 1986, she moved to Ennis. She worked for Wolf and Marx Department Store in Sales for 16 years and for Rhodes Department Store, also in Sales, for another 16 years before retiring in 1981. She was a member of the Los Angeles Heights United Methodist Church.

Mary is survived by her son, David Hopkins and his wife, Carol of Ennis; grandson, David Dwight Hopkins, of Ennis; granddaughter, Stacey Anderson, and her husband, Andrew, of Allen, Texas; great grandchildren: Tyler Anderson, Sarah Kate Anderson, Joshua Anderson and Mary Ella Anderson; sister, Esther Rose, of Cowen, West Virginia and numerous nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her husband (Nov. 15, 1984); her parents; brothers: Fred Wolford, Edward Wolford and Clark Wolford; sisters: Helen Cummings and Della Jones.

A Graveside Service were held Tuesday, Sept. 23, 2008 at 11 a.m. at Myrtle Cemetery with Bro. James C. Walker, Ennis Fire Department Chaplain, officiating, under the direction of J. E. Keever Mortuary, Inc.

Pallbearers were Capt. Gary Howell, Capt. Jeff Aycock, Capt. Gary Cochran, Lt. Shawn Mounts, Lt. Darrell Brundage and Lt. Jeff Gray of the Ennis Fire Department.
