"Bass" as he was known, married Myrtle Alice Grace Ray in 1938. They had eight children - Kenneth, Ted, Tony, Donnie, Ronnie, Jack, Patricia and Pam. After my granny died, he took care of their oldest child, who suffers from Down's Syndrome, until he was 86 years old. At that time, he had to put him in a nursing home. PaPaw (as we grandkids called him) never really was the same after that. However, the good Lord enabled him to drive to the nursing home everyday to see his first-born. After suffering a stroke, en route to the nursing home, he was placed in the same nursing home as his son until his death one week later.

The best PaPaw a person could wish for!

Parents: Frank and Catherine Phipps Johnson.
