James Lionel "Jimmy" or "Buddy" Day, a native of Clinton, died Monday, Jan. 2, 2012, at his home in Port Allen surrounded by his sisters. He was 58, born Jan. 7, 1953.

Visitation at Charlet Funeral Home Inc., 4230 High St., Zachary, until funeral services, conducted by the Rev. Harold Babin. Burial in Redwood Cemetery in Slaughter.

Jimmy is survived by two sisters, Sharon Ann Day Devine and her husband, Tommie Wayne, of Houston, and Linda Sue Day Phillips and her husband, Rawlston David Phillips Jr., of Port Allen; nephews, Robert Harold Thomas, of Austin, Texas, Christopher Marlin Thomas and his wife, Cindy, of Houston, Justin Micah Day and his wife, Mary, of Clinton, and Bonnie Michele Devine Crowder and her husband, Judson, William Stephen Devine and his fiancée, Haibiaba Peterson, Pamela Jane Devine Muscarelleo and her husband, Chris Elliott, and Susannah Leigh Devine Davis, all of Houston; and numerous great-nieces and great-nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James Elzie Day and Ouida Kent Day; maternal grandparents, Lionel Dupre Kent and Callie Rogillio; and paternal grandparents, Edgar Day and Lena North Newsom.

Jimmy was a loving son, brother and uncle. He will be missed by our family and friends. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Bluff Creek Methodist Church, Attn. The Rev. Betty McCarver, 2153 S. Flannery Road, Baton Rouge, LA 70816.

A special thanks to Lenita Pierce, Rebecca Williams, Eloise Kelly, Denise Battiste and Deidra Smith, for their care and kindness during his illness.
