NORRIDGEWOCK - Freda (Baird) Dunlap, 83, "the McDonald's Lady," died Monday, May 17, 2010, at Maine Medical Center in Portland. She was born to Carl A. and Ella (Robinson) Baird, on Oct. 24, 1926, in Norridgewock. She was a graduate of Madison High School. On Oct. 5, 1946, Freda married Lyman W. "Malcolm" Dunlap. She had worked at Norrwock Shoe Co. and retired from McDonald's Restaurant in Skowhegan following 20 years of employment there. She was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary of Norridgewock and a member of the United Baptist Church of Madison. She and her husband enjoyed vacationing in Florida and had traveled out west to visit with her brothers. They enjoyed their camp on North Pond in Smithfield and especially enjoyed family gatherings at camp. She was predeceased by her husband; a sister, Afton Hayden; and brothers Harley and Chester Baird. She is survived by her sons, Gary Dunlap and his wife, Laurie, of Standish, and Wayne Dunlap and his wife, Donna, of Norridgewock; two grandchildren, Jeremy Dunlap of Portland, Ore., and Amanda Dunlap of Washington, D.C.; a sister, Edith Blake of Norridgewock; brothers, Clyde Baird and his wife, Lorene, of Colorado Springs, Colo., Maynard Baird and his wife, Ruth, of Billings, Mont., and Linwood Baird and his wife, Sara, of Cheyenne, Wyo.; sisters-in-law, Marilyn Dunlap of Skowhegan and Jeannette Corson of Madison and brother-in-law, Harold Dunlap of Sidney, and several nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 25, at the United Baptist Church, 43 Maple St. in Madison with Pastor Danal O. Curtis officiating. Interment will follow at the Sunset View Cemetery in Norridgewock. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may make a memorial contribution to the Ronald McDonald House, 654 State St., Bangor, ME 04401 or online at www.rmhc.org. Arrangements are by Giberson Funeral Home, 40 Maple St., Madison.
