Eleanor Elva (Walker) Anderson

Eleanor Elva Walker was born May 23, 1903 in Crawfordsville, Iowa. She was the youngest of the five children of William Edmund Walker and Viola May (Donahey) Walker. Her siblings were, Cecil Eliza, John Paul, Mary Virginia and Rankin Thompson Walker.
Her family moved to Bozeman, Montana, for her mother's health, in 1910 and purchased a home at 422 So. 6th. In 1918 her mother died of breast cancer.
Her father was a building contractor and he built the Bozeman Roundup Stadium in 1919 to seat 20,000 people.
On March 24, 1921, Eleanor married Vernon Lyle Anderson a fraternity brother of her brother, John Paul Walker, and a vocational engineering student at Montana State College.
Shortly after their marriage Eleanor and Lyle visited his parents, Vincent Grant and Elizabeth Anderson, at their home in Fort Pierce, Florida. They then went to Atlanta, Georgia, where Lyle entered engineering school at Georgia Tech. Their first son, Vincent Lyle Anderson, was born in Atlanta on April 7, 1922.
Lyle's first employment as an engineer was surveying the everglades in 1923.
Their second son, William Walker Anderson, was born in Fort Pierce, Florida on December 10, 1923.
Eleanor and Lyle moved from Florida to Texas and then to California. They arrived in Hollywood, California, in 1929 where they rented an apartment in a three-story apartment house at 5715 Camerford Avenue, just a half a block from Paramount Studios. Their son Vincent attended his first school at Vine Street Elementary School.
Eleanor and Lyle separated in 1930 and Eleanor filed for divorce which became final in 1934. Eleanor was given custody of their two sons. Eleanor never remarried.
Eleanor studied and became a Physical Therapist and worked with doctors for many years.
She purchased a home at 354 N. Freeman Avenue, Hawthorne, California, in the late 1930's and became a successful, self-employed Physical Therapist holding California State License Number 62.
After the start of World War II she joined the war effort and for one year worked for Northrup Aircraft Company in Hawthorne, California. After the one year she returned to her Physical Therapy work working in her home.
In 1955 she obtained her certificate as a Licensed Physical Therapist with LPT No.182. In 1964 she successfully passed The National Board of Physical Therapy Examiners examination and was declared a Diplomate of the National Board of Physical Therapy Examiners, and was presented with Certificate No. 183.
In 1975 she served as a member of the Hawthorne, California, Chamber of Commerce.
She retired in 1980 but continued treating several of her long-time patients until she sold her home in 1982 and moved into Windsor Manor, a retirement home in Glendale, California.
Eleanor passed away on February 25, 1998, in Santa Teresta Hospital in Duarte, California. She was cremated and her ashes are in a niche at Forest Lawn Cemetery, Glendale, California.
