Teunis' wife Jantje (1852 - 1922) was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Teunis (Van) Veenschoten. She came over on a ship from the Netherlands in 1855 with her parents and seven brothers and sisters: Hendrik, Evert, Jan, Willem, Evertje, Johanna and Catherina. Teunis Veenschoten was one of the first members of the Third Dutch Reformed Church.
Teunis Bieshaar and Jantje (Jennie) (Van) Veenschoten were married in Marion Co. on Nov. 26, 1873, and lived on a farm four miles west of Pella where their nine children were born: Conrad (married Nellie May Erickson), Johanna (Mrs. J. C. Be Bruin), Teunis, Jr. (married Winnie Bogaards, died of appendicitis at age 36), Wilhelmina (Minnie, Mrs. Fred De Burger), Jantje (Jennie, Mrs. John Else), Catharine (Mrs. Ernest Olson), Evertje (Effie, Mrs. Marsh Van Hemert), Henry Ward (married Bertha May Parke), and John (married Meda Walling).
Later the family moved 12 miles west of Pella into Mahaska Co. where they made their home until Teunis' death Nov. 21, 1912. Jennie, who died Oct. 22, 1922, lived in Pella the last three years of her life. Mr. and Mrs. Teunis Bieshaar are buried in Oakwood Cemetery, Pella, Ia.
