At about 14 years of age Mrs. Brown moved with her parents to a farm near McLouth, and on March 16, 1864 she was married to Mr. W. D. McPherron, to which union were given three daughters, Mrs. Margaret Hamilton of Lawrence, Kansas, Mrs. Alice Patterson of Rock Creek, Kan., and Mrs. Guy Slawson of Orlando, Florida.
In 1896 Mrs. Brown was converted at a camp meeting at the Wellman church and joined that church, but later transferred her membership to the McLouth M. E. church where she remained a faithful and helpful member until her death.
On January 14, 1901, her husband, W. D. McPherron passed away. Shortly after his death she moved to the little home which she has made for herself here in McLouth. In May, 1906, she was married to Mr. Archie Brown, who passed on in the fall of 1913. Besides her three daughters there remain to mourn her loss three of her brothers and sisters; Mr. Wm. Cross of Mulhall, Oklahoma, Mr. James Cross of Leavenworth, Kans., and Mrs. Eva Westfall of Kansas City, Missouri.
There are five grandchildren; Mabel Patterson of Topeka, Kansas, Doyle, Edward and Anna Patterson of Rock Creek, Kansas and Merritt Slawson of Orlando, Florida. There is also one great-grandson, Duane, son of Doyle Patterson of Rock Creek. The other relatives and many friends joined with them in their sorrow and sympathy.
