John W. Barb, farmer and stock-grower, Mapletown, Penn., was born in Monongalia County, W. Va., July 8, 1854. His parents, Gideon and Sarah (Webb) Barb, were natives of Old Virginia, and of German descent. He died Sunday, December 9, at his home at Mapletown, aged 63 years. Death resulted from paralysis from which he had been suffering for over a year.
He was a life-long member of the M. E. church. He was also a member of the Greensboro lodge, Loyal Order of Moose, of the P. O. S. of A., and the Royal Arcanum. He married Miss Louisa Mestrazet, who survives, together with the following children: Mrs. George (Lillian) Gapen and Miss Minnie Barb, at home; Charles A. Barb, Lamar G. Barb, Mrs. Frank (Ethel) Donham and Arthur Barb, all of Mapletown, and William H. Barb, one of the selectives who left Waynesburg last Friday for Camp Sherman, Chillicothe, O.
