Beloved son of Arthur and Susan Cobb Carroll. A celebration of life will be held Nov. 21 for Don Carroll of Florence, who died Nov. 14 of heart failure. He was 61. He moved from Eugene to Las Cruces, N.M. and graduated from Las Cruces High School in 1962. He studied wildlife management at New Mexico State University. He served as a naval airman for seven years, including two tours of duty in Vietnam and later served four years in the Coast Guard at Warrenton. He graduated from the U.S. Sergeant Major's Academy. He also served in the Oregon National Guard and Army reserve, retiring as a master sergeant. He married Marilyn Barkley on Sept. 24, 1964. They were married for 41 years. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Michael and Patrick; and two daughters, Traci Carlin and Buffi Kennedy.
He was the pastor of First Baptist Church in Florence and previously served as pastor of Valley River Baptist church in Eugene. he also was a school bus driver for the Siuslaw School District. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. An avid hunter and outdoorsman, he belonged to the National Rifle Association and Veterans of Foreign Wars.
