Roland "Butter" Cornelius, 71, died Friday, June 12, 2009, at his home in Garden City.

He was born Aug. 23, 1937, in Kingman, to Ray and LaVonne Swingle Cornelius.

A Garden City resident since 1963, moving from Zenda, Mr. Cornelius was a retired meat cutter for Safeway. He was a member of the Methodist Church of Zenda and was an avid fisherman.

On July 27, 1958, he married Dixie Lee Plush in Kingman. She survives. Other survivors include a son, Rocky Cornelius of Garden City; a daughter, Tammy Kells of Garden City; a grandson; three granddaughters; and two great-grandsons. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and one sister.

Funeral was at 3 p.m. Tuesday, June 16, 2009, at Price & Sons Funeral Home in Garden City, with the Rev. David Bell officiating. Burial at Valley View Cemetery in Garden City.

Visitation was until 8 on Monday, June 15, 2009, and 10 a.m. to service time Tuesday, June 16, 2009, at the funeral home. Condolences may be sent at www.priceandsons.com.
