Mike was a professional Thoroughbred jockey. He started his career in 1964. In the 25 years that he raced he rode 2313 Winners. He was loved and admired by everyone who knew him and many others who never met him. On October 13, 1988, it was in fifth race at Belmont. The mount he was racing broke its leg, Mike was thrown into the path of oncoming racers and was trampled and killed instantly. A fine life taken far too soon.
