MY GRANDFATHER

- Born in Cyprus Greece in 1897. He came to America through Ellis Island at age 17. He came here to help support his family back home in Greece. He met and married Anna (Pictured at right) and they had two children Stanley and Helen. Helen is my Mom. He had two brothers and one sister. They were married 52 years before his death. Picture celebrating their 50th Wedding Anniversary.

He worked as a Bartender and eventually a doorman at the Plaza Hotel in Manhattan. (Picture in Uniform).

He had four Grandchildren, but unfortunately never got to see his 7 Great Grandchildren.

He was a gentle man and very quiet. Sundays were always spent at my Grandparents home for dinner. After dinner my brother and I would go into the Living Room with him and we would watch the Disney movie and then Mutual of Omaha's Wild Kingdom. Those Sunday Dinners are the best memories I have of him. That and the weekends spent in Bayville, New York on my father's boat.

He was a very special person who left a big impression on both my brother and I and we miss him still. He passed after a long illness with Leukemia.

My Grandmother passed away in 2001 and there was never a day that she did not mention him. At least they are together again.
