Imogene "Gene" was the first daughter born to Alfred Whitten and Pinkie B. Stewart Moyers. She was born in Limestone County, Alabama. Graduated at Tanner High School, and Athens College, she married Lawrence Bulter Campbell on December 29, 1935, Larry was in the Army and he and Gene lived in Missouri for a while and one of their children was born there. When Larry was discharged fromt he Army they came back to Limestone County, Alabama to make their home. Gene was a teller for the Bell South telephone company untill her retirement thirty three years later. After Larry retired from NASA they both loved traveling and bought an Air Stream travel trailer and took long trips to different states exploring as they called it. Larry loved taking pictures and when there was a family get together he would often bring his projector and slides and would share the sites they had seen. Gene was interested in her family history and had started a family tree on the Stewart side which would be her mother's family. When she was told she had cancer she made copies of her work and mailed it to all her nieces and nephews in hopes that one of them would continue her work someday. I guess you might say that I have done just that as I took her notes and that is where I started with my research. Gene leaves behind 2 children, 2 grandchildren and several great grandchildren. She fought the battle with cancer and lost she passed away in her home surrounded by her family as she wished.
