Eva Marie Steadman possibly the daughter of William C. Steadman. Siblings known of were Will and Minnie could be more.
Eva Marie married John M. Fleming who was born in PA but had moved as a child w/ his parents to Tullahoma, Coffee County, Tennessee. As a young man John met Eva and married her, they lived in Mobile where he ran a laundry called Troy Street Cleaners. John and Eva had a girl, Lillian born in 1895 and one year later John became a widow and little Lillian was motherless. It is unknown as to why Eva Marie passed away. She is buried next to Diana Bachelder age 50, from Vermont who died on August 15, 1893. It is not known if Eva Marie and Diana Bachelder knew each other or not, however, there is a picture of the graves of these two women in a collection owned by the family of Eva's daughter, Lillian and on the back it is written "Eva Marie and Mrs. Bachelder". If she was not known by the family it is not likely that a picture of both graves would have been taken. Mr. Fleming took his small daughter to his parents in Tullahoma, Coffee County, Tennessee, and in 1900 he is found in the Georgia census listed as a boarder and working in a laundry. He had sold his business in Mobile and moved, most likely to help with the mourning of his beloved Eva. He later married again and he and his wife along with his brother and his wife ran another cleaners in GA. His daughter with Eva never left her grandparents in Tennessee, grew to be a young lady, marrying and raising two children in Coffee County, Tennessee. John M. Fleming was buried in Coffee County, Tennessee upon his death.
In 2012 I was contacted by Tim Childree who had submitted pictures taken in 2011 of the graves of the two women and the stones are almost identical. This leaves me to believe that the two women's families had some sort of tie to each other. If they were not related, Eva's husband John M. Fleming was owner and operator of Troy Street Cleaners, it is possible that Mrs. Bachelder or her husband or both could have worked for the Fleming's. Mr. Fleming could have paid for the burial of Mrs. Bachelder and a few short years later when his wife, Eva died he chose to have her buried next to Mrs. Bachelder choosing a stone like their friend or relative.
Mr. Childree had also researched Diana Bachelder and I have posted the data he shared with me on her findagrave memorial. Mrs. Diana Bachelder's findagrave id# is 59346939
